The 10 Best lines from the 10 Best Movies (late-60s & early-70s)

Today, whether on Turner Classic Movies (TMC) or on American Movie Classics (AMC), you get a pretty steady diet of older movies.  Some are great, some are merely good, and quite frankly, some are pretty awful!

I’ve chosen the period from the mid-60s through the early-80s to select my Top 10 great movies that I ALWAYS stop to watch whenever I’m channel surfing.

What do you think of my choices?

What are some of your own?

Yes, I know … this is just another list blog  … easy to write and definitely fodder for disagreement.  Along with YOUTUBES from my favorite lines from each film and, in no particular order are  here are …

My personal Top-10

“Chinatown” (Jack Nicholson, Faye Dunaway) … She’s my daughter (slap!) She’s my sister (slap!) I said I want the TRUTH! (slap!) She’s my daughter AND my sister!

“Five Easy Pieces (Jack Nicholson) … You want a chicken sandwich and you want me to hold the chicken, huh?  Yeah, I want you to hold it between your KNEES!

“Midnight Cowboy” (Jon Voight and Dustin Hoffman) … Hey!  I’m WALKIN’ here!  I’M WALKIN’ HERE!!

“Doctor Zhivago”  (Omar Sharif, Tom Courtney and Julie Christie).. The personal life is dead in Russia … history has killed it.

“MASH” (Donald Sutherland, Elliott Gould and Sally Kellerman) … Frank, my lips are HOT!  Kiss my HOT LIPS!

“Patton” (George C. Scott) … No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country.  He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for HIS country!

“The Graduate” (Dustin Hoffman and Anne Bancroft) … Mrs. Robinson, are you trying to seduce me?

“American Graffiti” (Richard Dreyfuss, Ron Howard, Harrison Ford, etc., etc.) … Your car is uglier than I am.  Wait, that didn’t come out right.

“Lawrence of Arabia” (Peter O’Toole and Omar Sharif) … I think you are another of these “desert-loving” English …

“Little Big Man” (Dustin Hoffman and Faye Dunaway)) … It is my Christian duty to give this poor boy an immediate and thorough bath!

Honorable Mention:

“Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid”  (Paul Newman and Robert Redford) … Would you make a jump like that, you don’t have to?  I HAVE to and I’m not gonna …

“Network” (William Holden, Peter Finch and Faye Dunaway) … I’m MAD as HELL and I’m not going to TAKE it ANYMORE!

PS:  I didn’t notice this until after I’d completed my list, but judging from my choices, it would follow that my favorite actors from the period were Jack Nicholson, Dustin Hoffman, Omar Sharif and Faye Dunaway.  This never occured to me until just now …
